Research Technician (maternity cover)

A highly motivated Research Technician is invited to join the group of Dr Abdenour Soufi based in the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh for a maternity cover.

We are particularly interested in the interaction between transcription factors and chromatin during cellular reprogramming (Soufi et al; Cell 2015, Soufi et al; Cell 2012). The work will primarily involve the maintaining stem cells and pluripotency rescue experiments. The candidate will be exposed to a wide range of approaches including; ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, Mnase-seq, ATAC-seq, recombinant protein purification, DNA-protein interaction analysis such as EMSA and DNase-footprinting, and building and designing synthetic transcription factors.

The successful candidate requires an honours or master degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline with clear evidence of independent research capabilities. Previous laboratory experience is required with expertise in molecular and cellular biology. Experience in stem cell culture and pluripotency maintenance assays is highly desirable. The post also requires excellent communication & IT skills, ability to prioritise and an awareness of safe working practices.
