Congratulations to Professor Charles ffrench-Constant, Professor of Neurology at MRC-CRM and Dean of Research for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, who has been awarded the 2019 Chancellor’s Award for Research.
The Chancellor’s Awards are one of the most important ways in which the University recognises current members of the University community who have made outstanding contributions to teaching or research and achieved national and international recognition for their work. Established in 2003, they now reward staff in four categories for teaching, research, impact and showing great potential in early career research.
For the Chancellor’s Award for Research, the University seeks to honour a colleague who has enhanced the research reputation of the University through a particularly significant, world-leading contribution to the progress of research within their discipline in the last 5 years.
Professor ffrench-Constant was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Research in recognition of his outstanding internationally regarded research in the field Neurobiology and also for inspiring and supporting colleagues, peers and younger scientists.
Professor Stuart Forbes, Director of the MRC-CRM said:
“I would like to offer my congratulations, this award recognises Charles’s lifelong dedication to research, his international reputation and his generosity in mentoring and developing the people around him.”
Professor ffrench-Constant was presented his award by the Chancellor, the HRH the Princess Royal, at a gala dinner held at the Palace of Holyrood House on the 2 October.
