Build your expertise in tissue regeneration and repair at the University of Edinburgh.

Our MSc by Research in Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Repair is a one-year, full-time, on-campus MSc by Research programme structured around two laboratory-based research projects.

This programme is based at the state of the art MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine, a purpose-built research environment at the heart of Edinburgh BioQuarter with a track record in training over 170 PhD students.

This MSc is designed to prepare you for a research career in academia or industry, whether you have recently completed an undergraduate degree or are a professional who wants to pursue a career in research.

The programme capitalises on experienced group leaders who work across a range of disciplines and will teach key themes and principles in stem cell biology, developmental biology, regenerative medicine, inflammation research and tissue repair. You will become a well-rounded researcher by learning a range of practical biomedical research skills, data interpretation and presentation skills, and critical appraisal. You will gain valuable transferable skills that will be beneficial in a wide range of professions.

Programme description

You will undertake two research projects in laboratories of the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine or collaborating centres, and write a research project proposal. You will attend lectures and seminars by experts from a variety of research backgrounds pertinent to stem cell biology, developmental biology, regenerative medicine, inflammation research and tissue repair.

You will learn critical thinking and manuscript reviewing skills by attending journal clubs and participating in discussion groups . You can build transferable skills, ranging from statistics to communication skills.
