Introduction:
The nonlinear absorption of femtosecond laser pulses is used to fabricate 3D structures in transparent materials (glasses, crystals and polymers). Our initial project is to generate a niche for the distal lung.
Specifications
The femtosecond laser enables us to:
- fabricate structures such as precision freeform micro-optics, that can be utilised in advanced endoscopic instruments
- we are investigating the use of femtosecond lasers to fabricate structures such as bio-compatable 3D cell scaffolds that can be implanted into the distal lung for regenerative medicine applications
