Impact pipelines and the turn to dialogue: sociological perspectives on translational science

Event Date
29 January 2015 - 12:00 to 13:00
Location
SCRM Seminar Room, 5 Little France Drive, Edinburgh bioQuarter
Speaker Name
Prof Sarah Franklin
Speaker Organisation
Reproductive Sociology Research Group (ReproSoc), University of Cambridge, UK
Host

As a social scientist Prof Franklin is struck by the tension between the persistence of the pipeline model and the observation that translation is clearly messier, and more cyclical than this model would suggest. Indeed, it is more like a conversation than a pipe. Using extracts from recent research she will present questions rather than answers around this subject, based on observations she has made, and ongoing research topics she is investigating.
