What I do
Exploring and developing creative ways of connecting people with science, supporting and training scientists for public engagement, developing public engagement strategy, teaching future science communicators.
I’m interested in connecting with communities undeserved by science activities, for example geographically remote from centres of research or those that don’t usually find themselves interacting with science culture activities. With a background in education I’m also encouraged to forge new ways of bringing cutting edge science into schools. Since 2010 many of my projects have been around the inspirational science of stem cells across Europe interpreted in forms such as comic, film, and origami. From 2012 I’ve also enjoyed translating what I do into an experiential Masters course on the theme of science education as part of the MSc Science Communication and public Engagement here at Edinburgh University.
